Good News: Dogs, Toddlers, and 24,000 Cigarette Butts

Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A dog in Philadelphia kept digging holes in his owner’s yard, and his owner didn’t know why.  Turned out there was an underground GAS LEAK that could have caused a huge explosion.  It took workers three days to fix it.  They say if the dog hadn’t found the leak, the woman’s whole house could have blown up.  Maybe her neighbors’ houses too.  (Here’s a video she posted about it.)

2.  A mom in New Jersey posted a video after a Dollar Tree employee offered to hold her screaming toddler while she checked out and paid.  She wrote in the caption, “We need more angels like this in the world.”  (Here’s the video.)

3.  One year ago, a guy in New Jersey named Jim Alturo decided he’d help clean up his town by walking around and picking up cigarette butts people tossed on the ground . . . and he ended up with over 24,000 of them.

The exact count was 24,185.  And for each one, he decided to donate a penny to the American Lung Association.  So that’s $241.85.  He says he knows it’s not a significant amount of money, but “every penny helps.”
