WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik died yesterday.  He was 81 years old.

The Sheik, whose real name was Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, actually WAS from Iran, as he claimed.  Before coming to America, he was a bodyguard for the Shah and a decorated amateur wrestler.

Before breaking into the pros, he was a Greco-Roman champ, and even coached the 1972 U.S. Olympic team.

He’s probably best known for LOSING the WWF championship to Hulk Hogan in 1983, kicking off the Hulkamania era . . . one of most popular periods in the history of wrestling.

As an America-hating bad guy, he also famously feuded with Sgt. Slaughter.

In recent years, he became known for his appearances on “The Howard Stern Show”, as well as his HILARIOUS Twitter account.  He didn’t actually write his own Tweets, but they did kind of capture his spirit.

Here’s a classic example:  “Take a minute of your day to be nice to someone you dumb son of a B*&^$.”

He was also the originator of the term “Jabroni”, which was made famous by The Rock.

The Rock posted a really sweet video tribute to his “Uncle Sheiky”, in which he fully admits he borrowed “jabroni” from him.
