The Average Adult Now Spends 6 Hours and 24 Minutes a Day Sitting

How many hours a day do you spend sitting if you add up all the time at your desk, on your couch, and in your car?

A new study found the average adult in the U.S. now spends 6 hours and 24 minutes a day on their butt . . . almost an hour more than we did a decade ago.  And it might be even higher now, because they only looked at stats through 2016.

Computers and phones are the main reason we’re sitting more.  And Netflix hasn’t helped either.  Here are four new stats on screen time . . .

1.  In 2016, the average teenager spent even MORE time sitting . . . 8 hours and 12 minutes a day.  So that’s 1 hour and 48 minutes longer than the average adult.

2.  65% of adults and 59% of teens spent at least two hours a day watching TV or online videos.  That includes 23% of us with at least four hours of viewing time a day.

3.  50% of adults and 57% of teens spent at least one hour a day on a computer OUTSIDE of school or work.  And a quarter of us spent at least THREE hours of our spare time on computers.

4.  36% of adults say there’s no way they could go 24 hours without looking at a screen.  And 40% can’t remember the last time they did it.
