More “Good News” Stories from the Coronavirus Outbreak

Here are a few more good news stories from the outbreak . . .

1.  A school librarian in Virginia has been using a drone to deliver books to kids to keep them occupied.

2.  A guy in Maryland who went viral earlier in the pandemic because of the “bad dad jokes” he was posting outside of his house to keep people happy is now using his Internet fame for a good cause.

He’s holding a “Father’s Day Bad Dad Joke” contest where people can submit a joke for $5, and all proceeded will go to a nonprofit that supports children and families.  And he’ll display the winning joke outside of his house on Sunday.

3.  A woman in Sacramento, California celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday with a drive-through celebration . . . her friends, family, and neighbors formed a caravan on the street to drive past her house and wish her a happy birthday.

4.  The pandemic has given people a chance to really reflect on their work situation . . . and that could lead to a lot of change.

40% of workers say they realize they need a better work-life balance . . . and 33% want to switch to a more meaningful or fulfilling career.

5.  Rent prices around the U.S. are dropping in the wake of coronavirus.  One real estate agent in San Francisco says he’s even seeing rents down 10% to 20%.

6.  The pandemic and recession may not hurt charitable giving as much as expected.  Giving USA says that an increase in donations around coronavirus and the nationwide protests could keep charity numbers strong this year.

7.  Researchers at Stanford University have found you can do a simple, accurate test for coronavirus at home . . . that will help limit people’s exposure as they won’t always have to go to a hospital or testing center.
