Here are a few more good news stories from the outbreak . . .

1.  Another COVID survivor got to meet the plasma donor who saved them.  A 32-year-old woman in Wisconsin named Unique Edwards almost died in June.  But a woman who’d already beaten the virus donated plasma.  And the antibodies helped Unique beat it too.  They just got to meet up for the first time on Tuesday.

2.  An anonymous donor just gave $750,000 to a charity that’s helping migrant farmworkers and meatpackers in Iowa pay their rent.

3.  A group called the Fixit Clinic helps people repair their old appliances and electronics instead of throwing them out.  And they had to stop holding events when the pandemic hit.  So they decided to roll with it . . . started doing classes on Zoom instead . . . and they’re a huge hit.  So now they’re reaching even more people.

4.  The group Pets for the Elderly covers adoption fees for seniors.  And they’re expanding because of the pandemic.  Since 1992, they’ve helped adopt almost 100,000 pets in 34 states.  And now they’re aiming to be in all 50 states by the end of the year.

5.  Just to lift people’s spirits, someone in Calgary has been installing plaques on park benches with funny, FAKE facts about what happened there.  Like one that says, “The first hamster to fly solo around the world took off from this spot in 1937.”  And there was an UPROAR last week when the city started removing them.  So now they’ve reversed that decision, and the plaques will stay.  (You can read more of them here.)
