This is Mailbox Improvement Week and the USPS is asking people to inspect and repair their mailboxes during this time. The USPS said: “The Postal Service makes this annual request because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes every year. Repairing suburban and rural mailboxes improves the appearance of communities and makes delivering and receiving mail safer for postal carriers and customers.”

… The USPS wants you to:

• Replace loose hinges on a mailbox door.

• Repaint a mailbox that may have rusted or has started to peel.

• Remount a loosened mailbox post.

• Replace or add house numbers.
