Good News: Free Flowers, Good Friends, and a Well-Timed Lottery Win
Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .
1. A guy in North Carolina bought a house, then hit the lottery the next day for $440,000. He says when he closed on the house, someone made a joke that he could lower his monthly payment if he ever won the lottery.
He’s using the money to pay off his house and go on a big fishing trip. He says he’ll save whatever’s left. (Here’s a photo.)
2. A charity in Virginia called Friendly City Florals launched in March after two friends realized a TON of flowers from weddings and flower shops get thrown out when they’re still perfectly good.
They set up a way for people to donate them, so they can be turned into new bouquets they hand out at places like retirement homes and hospitals. They also take donations from local gardeners.
3. A 24-year-old biker in Idaho named Zachary DeMoss got separated from his friends while out on a ride this month, and was missing for five days. Police couldn’t find him and were winding down their search.
But two friends named Greg and Danielle Commons decided they’d ride out to the area to look for him themselves, and found him lying next to a river barely alive.
He’d wrecked his bike and been lying there for five days, so he was in rough shape. But he’s now in the hospital recovering, all thanks to his friends who decided to keep looking.
