Good News: Cops, Birthday Parties, and Really Old Cats

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A 105-year-old woman in Cherryville, North Carolina named Lorene Summey just had her first birthday party this month.  She’d never had one until now, so her senior living center went big with line dancers, a pony, and a visit from the mayor.

She was also hoping to get 105 birthday cards, and ended up with more than 1,200 of them.  And this detail’s fun too:  She’s currently dating a guy named Joseph . . . who’s only 66 years old.  (Here’s a photo of her.)

2.  A Florida cop who doesn’t know how to swim jumped into a retention pond in Jacksonville to save a drowning baby.  It happened in June, but her bodycam footage was just released.

She pulled him out and did CPR until another cop took over.  The video stops at that point, but the kid eventually started breathing again.  (Here’s the full video. Warning:  S-words at :11, :54, and :55.)

3.  A 26-year-old cat in the U.K. named Flossie is now the oldest living cat in the world, according to Guinness.  She was born on December 29th, 1995.  So her 27th birthday is one month from today.
