Good News: Cars, Dogs, and Unlikely Proposals

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A couple in Colorado survived an avalanche last Thursday, and thought their dog died in it.  But then someone found the dog walking along a trail two nights later.

2.  A library in New Zealand was supposed to be closed for a national holiday last month, but someone left the doors unlocked.  So almost 400 people used the library that day, and checked out 150 books with an automated machine.  But even with no workers there, zero books were stolen.

3.  Speaking of books, a woman in Virginia named Jennifer Williams is on a mission to give one million books away to kids across the country.  She’s already handed out over 90,000 of them.

4.  A website where people in Europe can sign up to house Ukrainian refugees briefly went down the other day.  It crashed because so many people in the U.K. were trying to sign up to help.  In the first 24 hours, over 100,000 people registered.

5.  Porsche is helping Ukraine by auctioning off a special version of their Porsche 911 based on Sally, the blue car from the Pixar movie “Cars”.

6.  No matter how stressful life gets, remember to take time for the joyous moments:  A soldier in Ukraine stopped his own girlfriend at a checkpoint last week . . . and surprised her with a proposal.  The video isn’t in English, but you don’t need it to be.
