14th Annual Independence from Hunger Food Drive

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, the extreme-value grocery retailer, today launched its 14th Annual Independence from Hunger® Food Drive, to combat food insecurity and support families in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout America. From June 26 to July 31, 2024, Moses Lake Grocery Outlet is teaming up with Care Moses Lake, a local non-profit, to collect food and cash donations in-store.

Data from the United States Department of Agriculture and Feeding America shows that inflation is causing a double squeeze in communities across the nation. As prices rise, the number of Americans who get groceries at a food bank has increased to 41 million or 1 in 6 households, but the amount of people donating to food banks has gone down.

Each independently owned and operated Grocery Outlet store is committed to giving back to their community and have partnered locally to bring the community together in providing families nutritious food. The company estimates its business model can save shoppers as much as 40% over conventional grocery stores, on average, according to its website.

Customers can make a difference by visiting the Moses Lake Grocery Outlet and participating in one of these easy steps:

  • Give $5, get $5. Donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online and you will receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.
  • Pick up a pre-made bag that is filled with an assortment of groceries selected by Care Moses Lake
  • Make a monetary donation in-store at the register. Donations will benefit Care Moses Lake and support local non-profits such as: the Boys & Girls Clubs, New Hope/Kids Hope, the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, the Open Doors Sleep Center, Big Bend Community College’s Viking Food Pantry, Youth Dynamics and more!

For over 75 years, Grocery Outlet has been committed to giving back to local community organizations and IFH is an integral part of our commitment. “Since 1946, our core values have been built around our desire to both provide and give

back to our local communities,” said said RJ Sheedy, President and CEO of Grocery Outlet. “Our customers and communities alike are the foundation of our success. We feel it’s important to continue supporting these communities in every way possible, especially in their time of greatest need.”

The Moses Lake Grocery Outlet store is independently owned and operated by Paul & Kris Emerson who is/are committed to giving back to the local community. This year, the national campaign will span over 470 locations and build on Grocery Outlet’s past Independence from Hunger efforts that have raised over 20 million dollars to date, across America. Customers can help make a difference by visiting their local Grocery Outlet and participating in the Independence from Hunger food drive. The goal for the 2024 Indepence from Hunger Food Drive is $15,000. The more we raise the more we can give back to our local non-profits.
