Do We Have to Be Divided? 15 Policy Proposals That Most Republicans AND Democrats Agree On
The Democratic National Convention is underway in Chicago, which is mildly exciting to roughly 50% of people who follow politics.
It seems like EVERYTHING political is super divisive these days, but there’s a new list online of over 100 policy proposals that MOST Republicans and MOST Democrats SUPPORT, based on recent polling.
Of course nothing is 100% . . . other than preferring a side of fries over a side salad. Here are a few policies that get AT LEAST 75% SUPPORT from both parties:
1. Increasing restrictions on telemarketers’ use of automated dialing and robocalling.
2. Increasing legal protections for people who expose government wrongdoing.
3. Increasing federal funding for trade schools and vocational training.
4. Requiring financial literacy education in public high schools.
5. Increasing accessible voting options for people with disabilities.
6. Restricting corporate spending in elections.
7. Establishing limits on the number of terms for members of Congress.
8. Capping annual out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs.
9. Expanding Medicare to include dental, vision, and hearing coverage.
10. Increasing federal funding for highway construction and maintenance.
11. Tax breaks for companies that move their manufacturing back to the U.S.
12. Increasing federal funding for long-term care for the elderly.
13. Providing tax incentives for food service businesses to donate leftovers to local food banks.
14. Reducing federal taxes on families making less than $100,000 per year.
15. Increasing regulation of A.I. technology.
