A MLPD Officer Buys Food for a Homeless Man who was Searching Through the Trash

A Moses Lake Police Officer who caught a homeless man digging through a trash bin on North Stratford Road opted not to give the man a ticket, and instead bought him a hot meal and some coffee.

According to the Columbia Basin Herald officer Rick Francis spotted the transient just before midnight on Sunday, and with the temperature outside hovering in the low single digits, realized that the man was probably just hungry and searching for food.

Officer Francis paid for the man’s meal out of his own pocket, and it’s not the first time he’s done it.
